Niall Geaney Appointed to FIA Formula One Role

At a recent meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council, Niall Geaney was elected as a new member of the FIA Formula One Cost Cap Adjudication Panel (CCAP). The Cost Cap Adjudication Panel has been established to create a level playing field between all Formula One teams and encourage sustainable spending for the long term development of the sport. The Cost Cap Adjudication Panel is made up of independent Judges to hear cases in respect of breaches of the Cost Cap rules.

A lifelong motorsport fan, law graduate of University of Limerick and solicitor, Niall practices sports governance law and advises clients nationwide throughout Ireland.

Commenting on his appointment Niall said: “I am honoured to sit as one of the Judges on the panel for a four year term and hope to use my national sports governance experience on this newly formed International Court.”

Motorsport Ireland President John Naylor said: “To have someone from Ireland appointed to the CCAP is a tremendous achievement. Niall’s professionalism and passion for the sport is second to none and I am delighted he will be an integral part of this new era in Formula One. We wish him every success.”
