Niall Geaney

Niall is a qualified solicitor in both the Republic of Ireland and England & Wales.

With a strong focus on sports law, Niall offers guidance on a wide range of sports-related legal issues, including Sports Regulations, Disciplinary Matters and Commercial Law. He has extensive experience advising on a variety of sports such as soccer, motorsports, GAA, sailing, tennis, golf, rugby, rowing, gymnastics, boxing, bowls, martial arts, and more. Niall serves as a legal consultant to several sports governing bodies and athletes, offering counsel on both national and European law.

Niall is deeply involved in sports governance. He is a member of the Governance Committee of Golf Ireland, Chairperson of the Community Games Complaints and Disciplinary Panel and serves on the Football Association of Ireland Disciplinary Panel. He is frequently called upon to advise on legal matters concerning GAA athletes and has represented players and clubs in front of the Dispute Resolution Authority. He also is the chief investigator of all complaints for Rowing Ireland.

His work often extends beyond individual advisories, contributing to the broader dialogue on sports law. Niall frequently participates in seminars and workshops, sharing his insights and staying abreast of the latest trends and challenges in the sports world. Niall is a recognized expert in International Motorsport law, particularly with respect to regulation interpretation and judicial matters. He currently serves as Vice President of the FIA Formula One and Formula E Cost Cap Adjudication Panel as a Judge with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) in Paris. For many years he also provided legal advice to Motorsport Ireland, the national governing body for motorsport in Ireland.

Patrick Geaney

Patrick founded the firm in 1995, drawing on more than three decades of legal experience to build what has become a thriving, nationwide practice. His deep-rooted expertise, dedication to client service, and strong leadership have guided the firm’s steady growth and solidified its reputation as a trusted legal partner across Ireland.

Before establishing his own practice, Patrick cultivated his experience in the legal field, working with several well-regarded firms in Limerick as well as with Limerick City Council. This diverse background provided him with a broad and practical understanding of both private and public sector legal matters.

Patrick advises a wide range of clients, both private individuals and commercial entities, across numerous areas of law. His core practice areas include residential and commercial property transactions, planning law, compulsory purchase orders (CPOs), personal injury claims, probate and wills, debt recovery, and licensing law. His breadth of knowledge ensures clients receive comprehensive legal support tailored to their individual or business needs.

In addition to his legal practice, Patrick is an accredited mediator, qualified to assist parties in resolving disputes through mediation.
